YAY!

YAY!!!! First things first..... I *heart* Larissa!

She found the mobile on E.bay!  So So Excited!

Our poor child is going to be so torn between all these sports.  Here's a pic of some of the different gifts we've gotten so far.....

We follow a lot of different sports and since our family is spread out a couple different states - we follow a lot of different teams too.  It makes for some fun during the different seasons...good trash talk...and always a game on that some team of ours has a stake in.  So yeah....our kid may get a little confused but it'll still be a whole lotta fun.

On the Lookout

Our nursery is pretty much all done.  We got the glider/recliner in this week!  Already broke it in with a good nap.  Found cute blue and cream striped curtains...will post pics soon.  Once we get the actual crib mattress in, we'll be just about all set and ready for Baby Will to come home.

But....

... the one thing that started this nursery idea in motion is missing.  The mobile.  3-4 years ago (yes, it really has been that long!) I came across Mascotopia.  It's a company that makes different baby items in Mascot themes.  You can get college football, pro football, and even baseball themed items ranging from building blocks to....crib mobiles.  I saw this one and fell in LOVE!

It has little cubbie bears!  Pennant flags!  And even plays Take Me Out to The Ballgame!  Part of me three years ago screamed to secretly buy this and stash it in a closet so no one would know that I bought a mobile and wasn't even pregnant.  Another part of me thought it would jinx me.  Then after month after month of negative pregnancy test sticks, I really didn't want a jinx.

Fastforward to now.....this mobile is nowhere to be found!  The stores that carried it here in St. Louis don't keep it in stock.  Ama.zon and Go.ogle and Eb.ay don't have any listed.  They list other teams mobiles, but not the Cubs.  My family has gotten us a back up mobile ( and definitely one we'll use during football season) a Nebraska Huskers one.  It has little Herbie Huskers and plays the fight song and is adorable.  But I would still LOVE to have the Cubs one to go in our Cubs nursery.  So I'm calling out for help.  If anyone comes across one online, in a store in their town, even a gently used one...please let me know.  I would love to get it, buy it from you, or anything! Please keep your eyes out!  I would love you forever if you see one of these elusive mobiles out and about!

33 Weeks!

How Far Along?  33 Weeks!!!  It seems like he's almost here!

Weight Gain?  Yes...gaining weight - check!  I know a lot of my bloggy friends have gained less weight but then my IRL (in real life) friends and family have gained the same or more.  So, figuring this will most likely be the only time I get this big...I'll say it loud and proud....up a total of 35 pounds!  Don't believe me...check out the progression :)

13 Weeks

16 Weeks

20 Weeks

25 Weeks

33 Weeks

Maternity Clothes?  Yup, just went out this weekend and got a couple more tops for work.  I felt like a was wearing the same set of clothes over and over.  Case in point, notice my 33 week picture....recognize the top from 16 weeks :)

Symptoms?  I definitely can tell I'm carrying more weight around.  It gets tricky moving around the same as I did before.  I can't even sit on the couch the same!  My feet have started to swell a little, but Tim says he doesn't really notice.  I'm not wearing my rings anymore either.  It's sad not to have them on.

Movement?  Still lots of movement and he's started getting hiccups a lot more too.  Hiccups are too cute!

Sleep?  It's getting trickier moving from my left side to my right and etc.  But overall, not much to complain about.

Food Cravings?  No more than usual.  I still have my sweet tooth but I'm not indulging it as much as around the holidays.

Best Moment of the Week?  We Tim got the nursery painted!!!!  I helped with the measuring and taping and Tim did a wonderful job painting!!!

Tim painted all nine canvases with Cubs logos.  This wall has the different cubby bears, their newest logo on the navy background, and the "W".  It's for the flag that flies over Wrigley Field when the Cubs win.  And it also stands for William.  Too perfect.

On the opposite wall are the remaining four canvases.  Their current pinstripe logo, the Wrigley Field sign, the Harry Carey logo, and the 1914 logo that we love.  We currently have our bouncer seat in the spot where the glider will go.  It's supposed to be in by the end of the week.

We painted the far wall with pinstripes.  Now I just need to decide what to do for curtains...

And our special ceiling fan!  We even switched out the cords with ones that have little baseballs on it!
What I Miss?  I miss seeing our baby boy.  Going so long in between ultrasounds is making me miss him so much!  With all our issues and getting so many ultrasounds, its hard to do the "normal" ultrasound thing.  Three more weeks and we'll finally get to peek in on him again....I can't wait!

I got little onesie stickers for him too.  They came in the mail last week.  I don't know if you've seen these, but you place them on a onesie and then you can have pictures of him every month to see how much he's grown.  Once I saw them, I knew they were too cute to pass up!

What I'm Looking Forward To?  My friends are throwing me a baby shower on Sunday.  I just saw the invites and they are too cute!  Baseball themed and even little Cubs onesies on them.  I'm excited!  It comes on a good weekend too.  I don't have to work and I am actually getting a three day weekend!  I just won't know what to do with myself!

How Big is Baby?  Our weekly email updates estimate over 4 pounds and over 17 inches long!

The Swelling is Now Here

Let the swelling begin!  I get off work yesterday and look down as I get into my car and see a glimpse of my ankle.  Or what used to be my ankle and is now a swollen mess.  At first I was not alright with this. I was hoping that this part of pregnancy would just magically skip over me.  That I could continue to wear my cute shoes and be on my feet for as long as I want to be.  I don't know if you would call it sad, or disappointed, or what.  But I wasn't wanting swollen feet.  The upside is that they are barely swollen.  Tim said he couldn't even tell....but I think that was him being a boy about it.

After I thought about it awhile (stuck behind a car accident makes for a little longer commute home) I'm good with my swollen ankles.  It's a sign that I'm pregnant.  That my body is doing whatever it needs to do to take care of this little baby that I haven't even met yet.  It's kind of amazing all the changes a woman's body goes through to help bring a new life into the world.  And if swollen ankles is one of these changes, I am going to fully embrace it.  I don't know how many more chances I'll have in the future to do so.  So I'll put my feet up more, and takes more breaks from walking around at work, and ask for more foot massages.....and not feel guilty about it.  Another upside is that I do have a great husband.  A husband who didn't bat an eye when I got home and wanted to go shoe shopping before our movie date.

Then I get a reminder that it all balances out in the end.  The same day my feet starting swelling is the same day I get stopped by a random stranger saying "Oh My God, you are beautiful!"  Granted we were just passing each other at the movie theatre, and granted she was talking about my belly, but it did put a smile on my face for the rest of the night.

Life is good.

Nursery Update

Now that the holidays are over, we are going full force on the nursery.  I say we, but really Tim has gotten a lot of it done.  He's working on all the artwork for the room.  He's painting the different Cubs logo's and familiar icons by hand!  So far, he's got 6 of the 9 paintings done and they look fabulous!

Between now and this weekend I need to decide on the paint samples we gathered last weekend.  Then just tape the room and Tim said he'll paint it this Sunday.  Yay!  My plan is to get the baby blanket going while Tim's painting the bedroom.  So by the end of the weekend, Will's room will look lots different!  I'm so excited to see the room come together!

We would have the rocker/glider ready for the room but there was a problem after we got it home from the store.  It fit in the car no problem.  Got it home and took it out of the box, and then saw it had been damaged in manufacturing!  Looked like someone dragged it across the floor before putting it in the shipping box.  A whole side had been worn through to the threads.  We called BRU and they ordered us another one.  As soon as it gets in, we'll be able to swap them out.

Wish us luck on our plans!  Hopefully our childbirth class on Saturday won't wipe us out too much.  We're doing the all day course instead of the 4-5 week course.  I don't really know what to expect but I'm praying it doesn't freak me out too much.  So far, I'm all good with this "being pregnant" stuff....I'm all good with the "baby boy in my arms" stuff.....it's the actual delivery that's kind of scary.  Too bad we can't just skip over that part :)

The Wedding Ring is Off...

and it's so sad.  This week it had to come off.  One day it just started hurting my finger so badly I knew it couldn't stay on another minute.  It took minutes under cold water and lots of soap to slip it off.  I was hoping this wasn't going to happen to me.  It's sad knowing that my fingers are swelling, but in another way I kinda like it.  It's part of my journey, a part that a lot of other women experience during pregnancy.  I'm normal.

I'm normal...but still my stubborn self.  So far this week I had worn to work my 2 inch heeled boots or my 1 1/2 inch heels, aka my "flats."  But today I went stubborn.  I needed to wear my "real" heels.  Even though they were a little snug (dang it, my feet are getting a lil bigger now too) I vowed to wear them all day at work.  And I did!!!  Yay for 3+ inch heels!!!  Take that swelling body!

Another First

This weekend Tim and I spent a couple hours of New Years Day at the hospital.  And it couldn't have even been the hospital closest to us, Doc recommended we go to the bigger one closer into the city.  It's funny what driving distance you justify as "no big thing" when it comes to your unborn child.

On Saturday morning I let Tim know that I hadn't felt Will much the past couple days.  Usually he acts up 4-5 times per day for about 20-30 minutes each time.  But in the past 48 hours, during his usual play time I would feel 1-2 kicks and that would be it.  Of course, everything you read says to watch the movement and if anything changes - call your doc.  But with the holidays, family crashing at our house (we had about 12 people staying with us from Thur - Sun), and lack of sleep I was thinking it would be no big deal.  I was hoping Tim would say its nothing to be nervous about.  But he didn't.  So I got nervous.  We called the exchange number, I felt bad doing so on the holiday but I'm sure this will happen more once Will actually gets here.  Now I'm hoping Dr C will say I'm worrying over nothing...but he didn't.  "If you're nervous enough about his movements to call and they've decreased that much, I strongly suggest you go to the hospital to get monitored."

Our family was so understanding, and Tim and I hopped into the car and drove out to the hospital.  Actually Tim drove, aka was speeding down the highway...but I wasn't about to tell him to go slower either.  We met the nicest doc on duty that day, she was fabulous.  We were hooked up to fetal monitors for over an hour and sure enough...Will was doing just fine in there.  Little stinker...I think I even felt him more in that hour than the past two days total!

Looking back and after talking with the Doc, I think I didn't feel him as much because he's changed position.  He's now head down and most likely back towards my belly.  So I wasn't feeling any kicks or punches, because those would be directed towards my back.  Hence my back pain I felt Friday.  He's also getting bigger so his movements feel different anyhow.  And I hadn't had a chance to catch up on sleep or energy yet over the holidays...so I'm sure Will may have been a little groggy too.   All that adds up to a new mommy, worried about her baby, our first worried run to the hospital, but getting to listen to his perfect heartbeat for over an hour on New Years Day.
